Head Host/Hostess
SUMMARY
The Lead Host/Hostess ensures that guests have a good experience while they wait for their table, and they keep everything up to the quality standards. This job involves overseeing other hosts and hostesses and making sure that guest bookings are handled correctly with great customer service.
IMPORTANT TASKS
- Your main responsibilities include managing how guests are seated in the restaurant. This means making sure they are placed in the right order, keeping track of reservations, and following the restaurant’s rules and standards.
- Welcome people in a friendly and professional way.
- Tell guests about the daily activities at the resort and promote its features.
- Follow all phone manners rules.
- Assign tasks for opening and finishing, as well as additional responsibilities.
- Oversee the work on the host side and make sure there is a full list of setups for all places.
- Make sure the right number of menus are prepared and ready for each place before the shift starts.
- Manage bookings in OpenTable, answer phone calls, and record guest appointments and special requests.
- Set a good example by helping the area run smoothly and assisting guests when needed.
- Always follow federal and state health and cleanliness rules, as well as business policies.
- Work together with the Food & Beverage management team to achieve great results and build a positive work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or similar schooling.
- At least two years of work as a host or server.
- You have strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Micros, OpenTable, and Outlook, and you will use most of these apps every day.
PREFERRED
- Experience in luxury hotels is highly desired.
- A Bachelor’s Degree
PHYSICAL NEEDS
The job involves walking and standing for most of the day. You need to be able to stand and move around for up to 8 hours. You need to be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to do your job. Needs skills like using your hands, holding things, writing, standing, sitting, walking, doing the same movements over and over, bending down, and climbing. We constantly talk and listen when speaking with guests, managers, and coworkers. You need to be able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds. You should be able to lift food trays or things that weigh up to 40 pounds often. You should be able to push and pull carts and tools that weigh up to 250 pounds from time to time. Vision happens all the time, and the most common parts of it are seeing things up close, seeing colors, and judging how far away things are.
